Tax Organizers are documents we provide to assist you in gathering and preparing information and documents that are required to properly prepare a tax return. The organizer is designed to help identify special needs, major changes, and new items which may effect the tax return.
Use the organizer as a road map for gathering information so that you are less likely to omit important information. With regards to "filling in all the numbers", although some clients do fill in some of the current year amounts, you do not have to enter the amounts. If it helps you keep track of the information, then write in the amounts. As noted in the instructions, you are requested to attached all source documents such as 1099's, W/2's, K-1's, etc. You will get back your original documents as we make copies of these source documents for our files. We review these documents carefully for accurate input into the tax program.
For returning clients, amounts from your prior year tax return are shown for your reference and convenience.
For all clients, the last page of the document is titled "Additional Information". If you can not find any other place to include information, if you need more room for an explanation, or have a question not addressed elsewhere, enter it here.
For all clients, please take the time to review and answer the "Questionnaire" section of the organizer. This is intended to be a comprehensive list. As such, some of the items may not apply to you. As you review these items, if the "jargon" or the circumstances seem familiar, then make a note so that we can discuss the matter. The issues noted will help identify tax matters that need to be addressed currently and prospectively.
